Sunday, is that not simply the best day of the week? The one day where you can really slow down… At Webforkids, we take our time; gather the whole family around the table for breakfast. Plans for the afternoon are forged; chatter and laughter are filling the house. How I love these moments!

When I bring my kids to bed on Saturday night and ask them what they want for breakfast the next morning, I already know what’s coming: Waaaaaaaaffels!!

We bake ours always fresh and I like to share this simple recipe with you. Here it is: crunchy waffles for the family breakfast.

Preparation time: 30 minutes, ingredients for 6 people

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar
  • 65 cl of milk
  • 250 g flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of yeast
  • 30g of melted butter

Preparation: Mix flour, yeast, sugar and vanilla sugar. Form a dent in the middle of the dough; add milk, melted butter, and egg. Stir everything vigorously. Leave the dough for 1 hour. Bake waffles with a waffle iron. Allow about 3-5 minutes for each waffle. Then spread fruit jam or marmalade on the waffles. My little ones love the strawberry jam by Bonne Maman. For a drink, we prepare hot chocolate.

For us adults there is a little extra: panacotta. It’s a must on our Sunday breakfast table. This sweet treat is also very easily prepared.

Preparation time: 15 min, ingredients for 6 people

  • 5 leaves gelatin
  • 50cl liquid cream
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 50 g of sugar

Preparation: Soften gelatin leaves in cold water, simmer cream, sugar and vanilla sugar, dry gelatin and add to the cream. Mix well so that the gelatin completely decomposes. Pour mixture into small glasses and let rest in the refrigerator for 3 hours. Add a spoonful of jam before serving. We like the strawberry and bitter orange by Bonne Maman.

Voila – fast, easy and delicious! What do you prepare for your family on Sunday morning? Share your recipe ideas with us. We are always looking for inspiration. Tasty, funny, healthy? Post it as a comment!
