One day I came home and as soon as I opened the door I was welcomed by the most beautiful perfume emanating from a surprise parcel I received. It sat on the sideboard and was labelled bepure.

The first thing I noticed when unwrapping, was the beautiful design of the bottles. They are made of high-quality violet glass, which blocks the entire spectrum of visible light except for the violet part. This delays the ageing process initiated by visible light. The products can be kept a long time without losing their intense freshness. The colour scheme of the labels is fantastic: shades of teal, grey, rose… it’s everything I love. The form of the bottles reminds of tinctures, with an à l’époque feel, but because of their puristic design very modern at the same time. The products as such smell divine!

After having tested the cosmetics for some time now, I can say that I am totally in love with bepure. Not only for the elegance, quality and benefits of their products but also for their business ethics. 100% natural, vegan, not tested on animals, all bepure products carry the ECOCERT label. Produced in Morocco and bottled in Switzerland, bepure combines sustainability with social responsibility. Fairtrade is a very important component in the bepure concept.

The founders Kathleen and Fabian know their production partners in Morocco personally and assure that the working conditions for their employees are fair and their wages paid. The collaboration with bepure secures jobs and fair pay for several Berber women. The oils are then bottled and labelled in Winterthur in collaboration with the city’s work integration centre.

You see, bepure is a wonderful startup on so many levels; their products a great gift that you can give to yourself or someone you love with good conscience.

I am so so very happy to kick off this year’s Advent Calendar with this exquisite gift from bepure in the value of CHF 200: 1 gift box filled with 1 x Intensive Daycare Faceoil, 1 x Fresh Bodaycare Oil, 1 x Repair Haircare (all of which I have personally tested, see below!) AND 1 x surprise product.

I received the Intensive Daycare Face Oil. It contains only 100% pure natural oil, ZERO synthetic additives: argan, rose… for fresh, clean skin. Rose is said to have calming properties, particularly for sensitive skin. This face oil is meant to reduce redness and impurities leaving the skin smooth and matte. Redness is, in fact, a little problem I have, particularly around the nose, so this face oil was perfect for me. The wonderful side effect when applying it to the red areas around my nose is that I can smell the pure, crisp perfume of rose for a long time, which has an uplifting effect. Shine is also one of my little skin problems. Forehead, chin… it is a curse.

Just a tiny little drop of this oil on every zone in the morning and maybe one to refresh throughout the day and you are good! I truly love this product. It is ultra feminine with its gentle touch of rose, very soothing and economical in the sense that you only need to apply very few daps in order to achieve a visible improvement on the zones in question. Of course, any kind of cosmetic can only treat the symptoms, the imperfections our skin displays are often rooted in stress, pollution, and nutrition. Which is why, as of today, 1st December, I am coupling my new skin care with a purification program altogether: 21 days, counting down to Christmas, of making slight improvements to my overall lifestyle. That involves eating cleaner, drinking more water, sleeping longer, exercising more, letting go of work and reconnecting with nature, my family and friends. We shall see the progress in the next few weeks!

The second product I received is the Fresh Bodycare oil. Made from blackberry and lemon, it boasts vitamin C and fruit acids and has a detoxing, purifying effect. Just after your shower in the morning, massage it into your skin and it gives you a nice little zingy kick to the day. Mild apricot and sweet almond oil are combined with precious Argan oil, which contains a lot of natural vitamin E and antioxidants. It is meant to stimulate circulation and to reduce first signs of ageing. I am not so far along in my test and will let you know my observations once I finished.

A Repair Haircare made from 5 vegetable oils completes my trio of bepure products. I am going to say it like it is: I could sniff on that all day! Its wonderful aromas of cedar, lemon and rosemary are at the same time soothing and invigorating. Utterly lovely! I let you in on a little haircare secret of mine: for about ten days now, I have been trying “nopoo”. Pardon, kesako? It stands for “no shampoo” when washing your hair and I can already see you wrinkling your nose with scepticism. So did I, when I read that the first time on Facebook. As I was a little poorly with cold the last two weeks, I mostly stayed in and I thought that this is the perfect occasion to try this method for once.

You know what: it worked for me. My hair is quite long and heavy. It was also dry and stressed and I seriously considered cutting it. With the “nopoo” method, it feels like my scalp and hair have regenerated: no itchy scalp, no dryness. I am quite amazed, actually. What I did, however, was to apply a little of the bepure repair hair care to the roots and ends of my hair before washing. It says on the bottle to massage the oil in, wrap hair with a warm towel and then wash it out thoroughly with shampoo. I did all of the before mentioned steps, only when washing did not use shampoo. Because, ya know, nopoo! My hair feels fuller, softer and has more grip. I will consider the nopoo experience a detox cure for my hair but will go back to using shampoo though. What are your thoughts on (sham)poo vs. no(sham)poo? Let me know in the comment box below!

  2. Interesting question! To shampoo or not to shampoo? Well I think I am a Shampoo person as I have 4 different ones at the moment. Since June i wear my hair short, it is quite heavy and thick. Now with the new hair cut I think I would definitely give it a try.

    • Same 🙂 I tried it and it did my hair good. But shampooing is part of a “ritual” that I don’t want to miss. So back to (sham)poo it is for me!
