In my job I get to test an enormous amount of beauty products, but not everything gets a feature on coolbrandz. One reason is that the aim of this platform is not so much to express my own opinions but rather to imply our blogger and influencer community in testing and reviewing new products and sharing their stories. I rarely publish actual product reviews myself, unless… I really, really like something. If that is the case, I do want to share my enthusiasm with you, of course. And the skincare from La Prairie has exactly that effect on me. It absolutely wow-ed me and will remain an essential in my beauty routine.

My love story with La Prairie started about a year ago. I was invited to the launch event for the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal line at the Dolder Grand. If you follow me in the Social Media you will have already seen snaps from this event. It was fabulous: a sunny day in early spring, a small group of beauty influencers, journalists and bloggers, a delicious, healthy lunch at the newly opened restaurant Saltz, a spa treatment and a make-up session… You get an idea of how good that felt!

Actually, I know La Prairie for a long time already. One of my first jobs in Switzerland was with a sports fashion brand based in Clarens, a small village at the Swiss Riviera that is also home to the Clinique La Prairie. When I had a sports accident, I went for my medical treatment there. So my first contact with the brand was actually with the medical not the beauty aspect. Yet I have a pretty clear memory of how beautiful the building and professional the service was. Everything about La Prairie transpires high quality, excellence and yes, luxury.

A little bit about the brand

Since its beginnings in 1931 La Prairie was known as a pioneer in the area of holistic beauty treatments. Medical expertise and wellness paired with Swiss hospitality are trademarks of the brand.

With a focus on preventative medicine La Prairie always recognized the importance of diet and nutrition in health and wellbeing. As with their skincare only the finest ingredients find their way in their menus as well.

True to these values, the lunch we got to enjoy at Saltz was of the purest, most exquisite composition: light and refined yet flavorsome. An unforgettable moment in time…

Time has always been a preoccupation for La Prairie whose purpose was to offer its clients a path to rejuvenation. What if the quest to recapture time was not only about adding years to life, but adding life to years? – Motivated by this question, Dr. Paul Niehans, a brilliant graduate from Zurich University, spent years of scientific research with the aim to unlock the secrets of eternal youth. Then, with the development of cellular therapy, a breakthrough was made.

The word-of-mouth about the efficiency of his approach spread among the fortunate and drew artists and aristocrats to the shores of lake Geneva.

Inspired from the advances made at the clinic, La Prairie created its exclusive Cellular Complex, an age-defying, life-infusing science signature that is the heart of the brand and that has been the basis of almost every La Prairie skincare product since.

My journey of rejuvenation with La Prairie

Life-infusing indeed! 2015 was an incredibly stressful year for me: three years into entrepreneurship, late nights, little sleep, extensive travel and lots of convenience food took their toll. There is no other way to put it: my skin was a total mess. Then, at the beginning of 2016, I made some life changing decisions, concentrated on finding back to myself and I started to use La Prairie skincare. A few weeks into adapting this new routine, my skin started to transform. The shadows under my eyes reduced, my complexion became more even and my complexion more illuminated. Rejuvenated is the exact right word to describe the effect.

And here is the power trio I am using: La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-in-Lotion, Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Serum and Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Transforming Cream SPF 30.

The Skin Caviar collection encapsulates all the benefits of caviar extracts. It is rich in omega-3 and omega-6, lecithin and phospholipids that contribute to lifting and firming the skin. Designed for use straight after cleansing, this serum improves the skin’s hydration and boosts its elasticity. I can literally feel my skin soaking up all the nutrients. Just 1-2 drops spread in your palm are enough to gently pat on your face and neck and prepare your skin to receive further care products.

My routine then continues with the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Serum. This is packed with antioxidants, plant extracts, amino acids, emollients and skin-identical ingredients, a powerful mixture that instantly soothes the skin. It has a very light texture and is easily absorbed. The serum is iridescent and as soon as applied you have the impression that your skin is glowing from within.

On top of the serum, I apply the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Transforming Cream SPF30. This is a great product because it combines the best of two worlds: skincare and makeup. Two little drops, not more, are enough to blend out over the entire face. It feels like a super light, silky veil that procures a natural glow finish. With these three products alone, I am set to build my day-to-day make up.

Speaking of multipurpose skincare: I also got the Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil SPF 50, which is an ultra lightweight moisturizer that doubles as a primer. It is of light pink color and creamy texture and boasts a high percentage of mineral filters. I am actually using it on makeup free days or when an extra sun protection is required: summer days spent outside or winter days spent on the slopes.

I am very happy with the La Prairie skincare. Using it for nearly a year now I have developed a routine that I love and that suits the needs of my skin perfectly. I cannot think of a single reason to change for the moment and will continue using and rebuying these products. Quite a few of you have commented my Social Media posts with a remark about the price. Sure, we have to do with luxury skincare here, BUT: besides its quality ingredients, its efficiency justifies the prize. Two little drops every day for a care that resembles a “spa for your face”? I think it is worth the investment.

If you are a user of La Prairie skincare and have tried products from the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal or Skin Caviar line, share your experience in the comments and post the link to your review. I’d love to read your feedback.
