Aloha! Follow Yvonne on her journey through Hawaii
Posted on 11/05/2017 by Eileen Schuch
Hawaii, a dream destination! How much I long to go there. Particularly now, that we started to collaborate with Kona. Have you ever been or are you planning to go? It is a surfer’s paradise but, of course, there are many other things to see and do.
As it happens, Yvonne from Every Day A Dress is currently exploring the islands and I thought I repost her Hawaii Vlogs here so you may follow her journey, too. This is N°1 in a series of posts about Hawaii, more are coming soon!
I think travel diaries are fab, don’t you? As long as they are as authentic as Yvonne’s. I mean, apart from the super staged Insta pics and stories, when do you really get to explore a country or destination with a person during their holidays? Like the real real… isn’t that what we are all interested in? So, let’s get right to it, shall we?
Hawaii Vlog #1: Waikiki Beach, Jetlag…
Waikīkī is situated at Honolulu and is most famous for Waikīkī Beach. In the Hawaiian language Waikīkī means spouting fresh water. In the 18th century, the area was a retreat for Hawaiian royalty who came here to go surfing on longboards, the forerunner of modern surfboards, if you will. In her vlog, Yvonne tells you all about getting there from Switzerland (27 hour flight!), getting up at 7 am (thanks to jetlag), hiring a car, chilling at the beach and more fun things to do on your first day in Hawaii.
Hawaii Vlog #2: Rain, pineapple, drone…
The sun is always shining, we all know that. However, sometimes we have rain. But Yvonne is not one for sulking. Oh no! Off they go on new adventures: car rental, Dole plantation, sandwiches with fries, drone flight and…. an amazing view! Tune in for more inspiration on what to do on a rainy day in Hawaii!
Hawaii Vlog #3: Sun, island hopping, shopping tour…
The sun is back! Follow Yvonne and Claudio as they check into their hotel (with pool and all!), transfer flight with Island Air to Kauai, snorkeling with turtles (or not), SHOPPPIIIING and Spaghetti Bolognese with lots of cheeeese!
Hawaii Vlog #4: Giant pineapple, turtles, monster waves…
Lesson learned: when you buy a giant inflatable floating pineapple for the pool, better get an air pump, too! Then: turtles (finally!), drive though Princeville, hitting the beach and giant waves.
Hawaii Vlog #5: Kajak tour, waterfalls, surfers, sunset…
First adventure trip: going kayaking in the jungle, with waterfalls and all that. What’s with the metric system? And why are Hawaiian names so difficult to pronounce (for German speakers, anyway)? The answer to the universe and everything: chilling at the beach, what else! How a game of Mau-Mau can help you determine who drives the car and why watching the waves is so peaceful.
